After James Toseland's disastrous performance at Donington last weekend, it's all eyes forward for Sunday's race at Assen
Published in The Telegraph - 27/06/08 It's hard to imagine anyone reading this who doesn't know what happened at last week's Donington Park MotoGP round, but just in case you've been visiting Mars, our own James Toseland fell off at the first corner of the first lap of his first home grand prix, dashing the hopes of most of the 90,000 fans who braved the winds to be there. The finger-pointing started almost before the sound of his Tech 3 Yamaha sliding into the gravel pit at Redgate had finished, although the applause was universal for his bravery in remounting minus one footrest and with an injured hand. I had a cup of tea with James on Sunday evening and he was distraught. "I couldn't go in," he said. "I had to do my best to please the crowd; I felt like I'd let everyone down." Encouragingly though, he was already talking about today's race at Assen, where hopefully he'll be able to make amends. |
